Be imitators of God, says St. Paul. Behave like God, is the Psalm refrain. How are supposed to do that? We can create like God or redeem like God or save like God. What can we possibly do which imitates God. St. Paul tells us: forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ. Forgiving is hard. There is a story about a woman who told her pastor that she was having visions of God. He was skeptical and to get proof of a divine vision he told the woman to ask God about his secret sin. When the woman returned he asked God’s response. She replied, “God said since the sin was forgiven he had forgotten it.” To forgive and forget is divine.
