The story of “doubting Thomas” provides a model that we can all emulate in coming to faith in the Risen Lord. “Come,” Jesus say, “touch my wounded hands and side. If you want to have an Easter faith you must touch my wounds.” That is our story as well. One of the surest ways of deepening our faith in the power flowing from Jesus’ resurrection is to touch the wounded body of Christ all around us. Feeding the hungry and housing the homeless, visiting the sick and consoling the bereaved, counselling the lost and giving and taking forgiveness — when we touch the wounded body of Christ with acts of mercy our own faith in the joy of the gospel is strengthened.
