We tend to punctuate things by major events. The American Revolution! The Civil War! Jeremiah does the same thing for the people of Judah. Do you remember that great thing God did for the people at the Exodus? God is going to do something equally great in the restoration from exile. “As the LORD lives, who brought the descendants of the house of Israel from all the lands to which I banished them; they shall again live on their own land.” But the story of the birth of Jesus is not a great event at all but something completely ordinary. Everyone is born! Yet this ordinary event is the most important one of all time. We can find God in our ordinary life as well.
