Jesus “had to become like his brothers and sisters in every way,” according to the epistle to the Hebrews. One way that he is like us is in his limitations. When Jesus begins his ministry the demands on him are great. He does not overdo but instead takes a break, spends some time at rest. Jesus realizes he can’t do everything so he must be clear about what his particular mission is and not try to do too much. This is a great model for each one of us. The needs are infinite and we wish we could do more. But we are called to be clear about our particular mission and our particular gifts, to do what we can and leave the rest to God.
