Jesus was not crucified because he was a nice guy. He said and did things which upset people, made them uncomfortable. Even his relatives, those who should have known him best said, “He is out of his mind.” In a world where you spend the vast bulk of your resources on the military Jesus said, Love you enemies, do good to those who hate you. In a world where we try to avoid the panhandlers Jesus said, if someone asks for your shirt give him your coat as well. In a world where having the newest and the latest is celebrated Jesus said, Blessed are you poor. If we try to live as Jesus taught us are we a bit out of our minds as well?
